Sea-ing is believing for Juddmonte champ Sea The Stars

Congratulations to Sea The Stars for doing the expected by winning the Juddmonte International to make it six victories in a row for the big bay colt.

The shining star of European racing could well be on a collision course with the Breeders' Cup classic if he can keep the pace. An impressive showing earlier this year in the Coral Eclipse proved the Classic distance would not be a bother as he made the front in the stretch and then brazenly turned a way a challenge by Rip Van Winkle. You have to see it to believe it.

The family connections of this horse make an impressive laundry list. The sire, Cape Cross, had modest earnings from wins in the Lockinge Stakes, Queen Anne and Celebration Mile. However, as a stallion Cape Cross has produced winners of 21 Group One races including BC F&M Turf champ Ouija Board.

Urban Sea, dam of Sea The Stars, won the 1993 running of the Prix de L'arc de Triomphe before going on to stellar career as a broodmare. Urban Sea provided the racing world with such runners as Galileo, Black Sam Bellamy and My Typhoon to name a few before sadly passing away earlier this from complications in foaling.

Sea The Stars is walking all over European competition with relative ease. Following his win in the Epsom Derby, jockey Mick Kinane stated, "I was going so easy all the way, it was as if we were going in slow motion."

Incredibly, it seems Sea The Stars is improving with each race. He has faced, and beaten, older competition and has proved himself at a variety of distances.

Up next will be the Group One Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown, but what North American racing fans want to know is if the big horse will be pointed to the Breeders' Cup.
