On Wednesday April 21st I woke up to sun shining through the bedroom window and I immediately hopped from my bed and made ready for a trip to the Woodbine backstretch. My goal for the morning was to catch up with trainers Audre Cappuccitti and Martha Gonzalez and also speak to an apprentice jockey for an upcoming feature in Down The Stretch. You can read my interviews with both conditioners (and a lot more photos) by clicking on this link.
In my travels on this glorious morning I caught up with a few nice people and several nice horses including Field Commission, a G2 Winner of the Nearctic Stakes and 2009 Champion Male Sprinter in Canada; and Tasty Temptation - the gutsy filly who finished second in the Oaks, took on the boys in the Queen's Plate and later in the fall won Woodbine's Wonder Where Stakes.
Those readers more interested in reading about Woodbine's weekend races including D's Wando in the Woodstock Stakes or checking out video of Roger Attfield's stakes win at Keeneland with Lady Sbakespeare should skip to the bottom of the post.

Canada's Champion Two-year-old Hollinger, trained by Roger Attfield, put in a nice breeze at Keeneland this morning hitting four furlongs in 49 flat. The work ranked 19th out of 42. Attfield's other top three year-old, Mobilizer, was a late trainer scratch on Thursday at Keeeneland.
Regardless, Attfield still enjoyed an excellent Thursday at the races as Lady Shakespeare captured the Bewitch Stakes. The Thoroughbred Times reports:
Charles Fipke’s homebred Lady Shakespeare chased the pace before taking over in the final sixteenth on Thursday to capture the $150,000 Grey Goose Bewitch Stakes (G3) on the turf at Keeneland Race Course.
The four-year-old Theatrical (Ire) filly picked up the second stakes victory of her career and first graded stakes triumph following a win in last year’s Ontario Colleen Stakes at Woodbine for trainer Roger Attfield.
