The long weekend is upon us but the news keeps on coming as nominations for five of Woodbine's stellar September turf events were made public. The big news is that both Gio Ponti and The Usual Q.T are on the list for the Woodbine Mile.

A total of 30 horses were nominated to the Grade 1, $1 million Woodbine Mile, which takes place over the E.P. Taylor Turf Course on September 19.
Among the top American-based runners on the list are multiple Grade 1 winner Gio Ponti and turf phenom The Usual Q. T. Possibly defending home turf in the one mile event are Play the King hero Smokey Fire, Charles Fipke homebred Society's Chairman and Sam-Son Farm charge Grand Adventure.
The nomination box closed on September 1, 2010. An owner may supplement a horse to the Woodbine Mile at a cost of $20,000 at the time of final entry.
