Grand Adventure is headed to the Turf Sprint
There are seven Woodbine-based horses making their way to Churchill Downs and the Juvenile Fillies Turf is shaping up as an excellent event for local fans as New Normal and Wyomia square off for trainers Mark Frostad and Danny Vella. I'll have a closer look at these two improving young fillies in an upcoming post.
Milwaukee Appeal will represent Woodbine in the Ladies Classic
Other Woodbine-based entrants in the Breeders' Cup are:
DELIGHTFUL MARY - Juvenile Fillies
MISS KELLER - Filly and Mare Turf
MILWAUKEE APPEAL - Ladies Classic
GRAND ADVENTURE - Turf Sprint
SOCIETY’S CHAIRMAN - Turf Mile
Society's Chairman, trained by Roger Attfield to a second place finish in the Shadwell Turf Mile to Gio Ponti, has drawn into one doozy of a field in the Turf Mile. To win, the multiple Woodbine winner will have to get past Woodbine Mile winner Court Vision; Proviso - who has won four G1 events on the trot; and one of the best milers in turf history, Goldivoka.
The race that everyone is talking about, of course, is the Breeders' Cup Classic which will feature undefeated mare Zenyatta trying a full field of fourteen over ten furlongs on the Churchill Downs dirt. Can Z put an end to all the discussion of whether or not she is worthy of 2010 Horse of the Year honours?
Here's a look at the field with a little bit of video to spice things up.
