To The 5 Boroughs

It will be a quiet week at TripleDeadHeat for new posts as I head to Manhattan with the lovely Amy for our annual trip to the National Stationery Show. During this break, I'll be heading to beautiful Belmont Park where I hope to meet up with top turf writers Brooklyn Backstretch and Ernie Munick and perhaps take a shot at Saturday's $300K guaranteed late pick 4 which boasts $0.50 minimums. (That's just $0.48 Canadian!)

Big Sandy!

I will be updating my daily features - Woodbine News and Entries/Results - as best I can during my absence.

On my return, I expect to post a photo essay similar to my previous Day in the Park at Belmont. Saturday's feature is the Peter Pan stakes last won by Charitable Man in 2009. The 2011 return of this G2 event offers a full field of talented three-year-olds:

PP Horse Jockey Wgt Trainer Odds
1 Isn't He Perfect (KY) J Rodriguez 116D Shivmangal 30-1
2 Uncle Brent (KY) J R Velazquez 120 L S Whiting 4-1
3 Beer Meister (KY) A O Solis 116 M Ortiz, Sr. 20-1
4 Prime Cut (KY) E S Prado 116 N J Howard 9-2
5 Tap Attack (NY) E Castro 116 S M Schwartz 50-1
6 Alternation (KY) R A Dominguez 118 D K Von Hemel 6-1
7 Bold Deed (NY) C Hill 116 M E Hushion 20-1
8 Adios Charlie (FL) R Maragh 120 S M Hough 3-1
9 Newsdad (KY) A Garcia 116 W I Mott 8-1
10 Joe Vann (KY) J Castellano 120 T A Pletcher 5-1
11 Monzon (MD) J Lezcano 118 I Correas, IV 15-1

It's too early for me to take a stab at the winner but I'm hoping the finish will be as thrilling as the 1995 edition of this event when Citadeed got up in time for the win.

Those readers that have arrived here hoping for a distraction - - I invite you to check out my archive of Feature Stories, Photo Gallery and Queen's Plate contenders.

Thanks for reading. While I might attempt some small posts during the break, regular posting should resume on Friday May 20th.
