Football (English Premiership)and Horse Racing make up the majority of my Internet surfing time. A typical day for me starts off at the Guardian where I catch up on all the latest footy news before hitting up TBA to see which blog has something interesting to say.

I cannot imagine how any work at all gets done in an office environment what with the wealth of information available at your fingertips. At any given moment, I could be setting out my fantasy football lineup while in another window reviewing leading riders at Louisiana Downs trying to get an angle on a wager I'll make to kill ten minutes off my lunch hour.

The multitude of media available to users in 2008 allows one to read, wager, watch, repeat and post a review without even moving from your chair. There are moments of my day where the information is so overwhelming I get an ice-cream headache. Two weeks ago, I created an account at an online wagering site solely for the purpose of acquiring access to their live streaming video of Liverpool v Standard Liege in the Champions League.

In the not so distant past, I had to fake doctor appointments and pay $20 cover at a pub just to see a match, whereas now I sit at my desk and stew when the streaming video gets choppy - even though I haven't paid a penny for it. I guess what I'm trying to say is - how incredibly lucky are we to see this leap in technology. It wasn't that long ago, that I had to wait for the following day's paper to see who won the tenth race if I left the track early. Now I can leave the track early, knowing that not only can I immediately find out the result when I get home, but I can also watch a video replay and if there's money in my account, chances are there's a race going on somewhere.
