Woodbine Watch List: The Would've Should've Could've Non-Winners

Nothing troubles a handicapper more than the horse that should have won. Sometimes a sure winner is done in by a slow start. Sometimes, the better horse simply ran into traffic trouble and could never get clear to launch a victory gallop. As a handicapper who continually checks Form notes for horses that have been steadied or otherwise impeded, Triple Dead Heat will chronicle the unfortunate circumstances of the Woodbine winners that never were. These sad stories will be posted on the Woodbine Watch List.

If things go as expected, we will all be rich by the end of the summer. If things go as they always have, then the trainer will likely jump the horse up in class for another mid-pack finish draining my account accordingly. Regardless, I'll be tracking the instance of misfortune and return on investment next time out. Wager at your own risk! This week's sparkling non-winners include Doneraile Gem, Legal Move and Queen ofthe Castle.

Woodbine Watch List - April 7, 2009

Partnering this list will a new feature by the name of Outrageous Odds. This weekly list will compile a review of the Woodbine payouts that should have made for early retirement. Everyone has a story of the triactor that got away and Tuesday will be our special time to remember what could have been in the previous week. This week's instalment includes a ridiculous $100,000 Superfecta. That's the sort of ROI that makes me think I'm better investing with HorsePlayer Interactive than my stock broker!

Some of the best writing on the net at the moment comes courtesy of my favourite racetrack entertainer Ernie Munick. If you have not signed up for his Thoroughbred Racing In New York Facebook Group, then you are missing out on some gems. Check out this excerpt from the latest TRNY posting regarding TRNY Member of the Week, Adam Wiener:

"We have jockeys and owners and breeders and trainers, and singers and writers and sculptors and painters, and doctors and lawyers, and students and teachers, and countless who live for the care of their creatures; cops and librarians, documentarians; photographers, biographers, not yet pornographers; Middle Eastern, Korean, much European; Catholics and Protestants, Buddhists and Jews, the erstwhile leader of CBS News. Which brings us to Adam, our man of the week, I need to pull over and let Wiener speak. "

Classic material that racing fans from all over the world should not be missing out on. Hup!
