Saturday Night Special: OSS and OSAS at Woodbine

Woodbine racetrack showcases eight divisions of the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals this evening, featuring the season’s top two- and three-year-old Ontario-bred trotters and pacers.

With more $2 million in purse money on the line, as well as a chance to impress for O'Brien Award nominations, the card is sure to provide a competitive collection of races.

Defending their OSS Super Final titles are O’Brien Award winners St Lads Popcorn in the three-year-old filly pace and heavily favoured Elusive Desire in the three-year-old filly trot.

Trainer Tracy Brainard will send out five fillies against Jack Darling's St Lads Popcorn including Kabbalah Karen B, Cheap Motel, Shacked Up, Not Enough and Coming Late. That race should provide plenty of juggling for position.

Though I've yet to handicap the entire card, I've got a good feeling about Keystone Raptor in the O.S.S. SUPER FINAL for 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. At odds of 6-1 and veteran Jack Moiseyev in the bike, there's plenty of value to build a wager around.

As well, OSAS star Sooner Hanover will be on hand to pose for pictures with the fans. It's a great evening to come out and get involved with an awesome program that works diligently to find homes for retired racing stars.

Earlier this year, I was fortunate to visit with OSAS horse Not A Prude who has since found a loving home. Prude's story made the cover of Trot Magazine and helped raise awareness for the good work being done by OSAS execs Joanne Colville, Sarah Lauren Scott and countless others.
